asked the Minister for the Environment the date on which the grant scheme to reduce dependence on oil was introduced.

The introduction of this grant scheme was announced on 13 July 1979. It applies to works commenced on or after 1 June 1979.

asked the Minister for the Environment why a house improvement grant has not been paid to a person (details supplied) in County Waterford; and when this grant will be paid.

Any delay in this case has been due to the large number of applications being processed in my Department. The grant will be paid when an inspection establishes that the work is eligible for a grant and has been satisfactorily completed. The inspection will be carried out as soon as possible.

asked the Minister for the Environment when a house improvement grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Waterford.

The balance of the house improvement grants will be paid when an inspection establishes that the work is fully complete and in order for payment. Notification that the work had been completed was received in the Department on 7 January 1981.

350.

asked the Minister for the Environment the reasons why, and the evidence on which a grant to reduce dependence on oil was refused to a person (details supplied) in County Waterford.

A grant could not be allowed in this case as the works commenced, according to the applicant and the contractor's certificate, in January 1979. Article 16 (6) of the Housing Regulations, 1980, specify that the grant shall apply only in respect of work commenced on or after 1 June 1979.

351.

asked the Minister for the Environment when a house improvement grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Waterford; and the reason for the delay in dealing with this application.

There is no record in my Department of an application for a house improvement grant from the person named.
