Vol. 327 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Cross-Border Development.

14.

asked the Minister for Finance the funds which will be made available for the projects listed at (4), (6), (7) and (8) in his reply to Parliamentary Question No. 19 of 29 January 1981.

I would refer the Deputy to the reply given to parliamentary questions on this matter previously, in particular on 4 November 1980. While a tentative allocation of the moneys of the special fund has been made at least as far as the main headings of the programme are concerned it would be premature to decide at this stage on firm allocations in so far as specific projects are concerned. This programme is a new one and a definitive list of projects has not been drawn up yet. As I have indicated previously all relevant proposals will be considered and a flexible approach adopted in relation to the allocation of funds. The programme itself has yet to be approved by the European Regional Development Fund Committee and it is only as the programme is implemented that decisions will be taken on the amounts to be allocated to different projects. This will permit a flexible approach in regard to the allocation of funds and will enable full account to be taken of competing demands in different sectors of the programme.
