Vol. 327 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - EEC Suckler Grant.

15.

asked the Minister for Agriculture when his Department will undertake the inspection of herds in County Kilkenny in order to qualify for the payment of the EEC suckler grant; and if he will make a statement on the position of people who have cows or young cattle which qualify for the suckler grant and which were sold before inspection had taken place.

Inspections under the scheme of premiums for maintaining suckler cows will commence in the east and south within the next few weeks. If an applicant sells any cows from his herd during the six months qualifying period from the date of application he will lose entitlement to the premium unless he replaces the cow during that period. Suitable in-calf heifers are acceptable as replacements.
