Vol. 327 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Mountain Fencing.

22.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if grants are available for fencing mountain grazing which has not been reclaimed but are not available for mountain areas which have been reclaimed; and, if so, if he will endeavour to rectify the matter.

Grants are available for boundary fencing in mountain areas where the fencing is part of a programme which also entails reclamation work aimed at improving the lands enclosed.

Anomalies have arisen in a small number of cases because of the kind of reclamation work undertaken. These situations are currently being examined to see if they can be appropriately accommodated within the existing grant schemes.
