asked the Minister for Agriculture the reason for the delay in the payment of a farm modernisation grant to a person (details supplied) in County Kerry.

As the applicant is a development farmer payment could not be made until the necessary evidence of keeping farm accounts was furnished. This evidence came to hand only recently. The grant will be paid shortly.

asked the Minister for Agriculture the reason for the delay in the payment of a cattle headage grant to a person (details supplied) in County Kerry.

This grant was paid on 27 March. The delay which occurred was due to administrative problems arising in large part from the protracted negotiations with the EEC on improved terms and conditions for the headage schemes.

asked the Minister for Agriculture why a fertiliser/silage subsidy under the 1980 winter fodder scheme has not yet been paid to a person (details supplied) in County Westmeath; the approximate proportion of claims under this scheme that have and have not been paid; and when he expects that all claims will be paid.

A fertiliser subsidy of £20 was paid to the person concerned on 12 February 1981. No application was received from this person for a silage subsidy.

Under the scheme there were approximately 26,000 applicants for fertiliser subsidy and 17,000 for silage subsidy. About 98 per cent and 70 per cent respectively have been paid to date. The remainder will be paid over the next few weeks.

asked the Minister for Agriculture when a grant under the farm modernisation scheme, which is owed for quite some time, will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny.
