Vol. 328 No. 4

Written Answers. - Westmeath River Improvements.

335.

asked the Minister for Finance why the Office of Public Works will not carry out improvements on the river which flows through Raheenmore and Midgemount and which subsequently flows into the Brosna River in County Westmeath; and if he is aware that farmers have been refused farm grants as a result.

The works requested are considered to be outside the scope of maintenance of the Brosna Drainage Scheme to which the function of the Commissioners of Public Works is confined. The question of farm grants is not a matter for the commissioners.
