Vol. 328 No. 8

Written Answers. - Whiddy Island Terminal Safety.

352.

asked the Minister for Labour if he is satisfied with the present safety arrangements in relation to the oil storage terminal at Whiddy Island, Bantry, County Cork; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I have had an inspection carried out of the oil storage terminal at Whiddy island very recently and the report which I received has indicated that the safety arrangements at the terminal are generally satisfactory.

I have arranged for the terminal to be inspected at regular intervals. The inspectors will liaise as necessary with Cork County Council who also have certain responsibilities in the matter.
