Vol. 328 No. 9

Written Answers. - Work Permit.

418.

asked the Minister for Labour if a person (details supplied) in Dublin will be granted a work permit.

An application for a work permit must be made by an employer and is specific to a particular employment.

In considering applications for work permits under the Aliens Orders, 1946 and 1975, and the EEC Regulations, 1977, I must have regard to the availability of Irish/EEC nationals for the work involved. The granting of a work permit would depend on whether suitable Irish/EEC nationals were available for the employment offered and otherwise whether the person in respect of whom the permit is sought is fully suitable in every way.
