Vol. 328 No. 12

Written Answers. - North Dublin Census Enumerators.

251.

asked the Taoiseach if he will state with reference to census enumerators appointed in the north Dublin area, the number employed and their areas; the number of those who were previously unemployed immediately prior to their appointment; and the basis on which these applications were considered for appointment.

Summary information is available for the various regions specially designated for the purposes of the administration of the census. One such region consisted of the Wards Coolock A, Coolock B, Coolock C, Baldoyle, Beann Eadair A and Beann Eadair B of Dublin County Borough, and also Dublin North County excluding the district electoral divisions of Blanchardstown, Castleknock and Clonsilla.

A total of 109 enumerators were appointed in this region. There were 37 persons interviewed who were unemployed or needy. Of these 26 were successful but three declined the offer of appointment and 21 of the 23 who accepted were on the live register.

The basis on which applications were considered for appointment was outlined in considerable detail in my reply to Questions Nos. 7 and 8 of 7 April last.
