Vol. 328 No. 16

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

69.

asked the Minister for the Environment when a home improvement grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Galway.

The grant will be paid when an inspection establishes that the works qualify for a grant and have been satisfactorily completed. The inspection will be carried out as soon as possible. Notification that the works have been completed was received in the Department on 8 April 1981.

70.

asked the Minister for the Environment when the £600 house improvement grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in Waterford city; if he is aware that this grant is long overdue; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

This application was rejected in January 1980 because the type of windows used were not approved for grant purposes. This applicant, together with a number of others who had fitted windows of the same type, contested that decision and they were informed that the matter would be reconsidered if the manufacturer could procure the assessment of the windows from the Institute for Industrial Research and Standards. This assessment has not yet come to hand but the institute have indicated that it will be made available to the Department shortly. On its receipt the applicant will be given an early decision as to his eligibility for a grant. If eligible, payment will be made as soon as possible.

76.

asked the Minister for the Environment the reason a house improvement grant has not been paid to a person (details supplied) in County Waterford who has been waiting for payment of the grant for some time; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

There is no record in my Department of an application for a house improvement grant from the person named.

77.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he is aware that a person (details supplied) in County Galway has not been paid water and sewerage grants to which she is entitled.

A grant for the installation of sewage facilities was paid on 1 May 1981. As the applicant has indicated that she does not intend to provide a water supply within the house, a water grant will not be made payable.

78.

asked the Minister for the Environment why a person (details supplied) in County Galway was only paid £300 in respect of a solid fuel grant when he should have been paid £600; and when he can expect to receive the balance.

The solid fuel grant was paid in this case on 1 July 1980. However, in response to a request from the applicant, the file has been referred to the Department's inspector for review of the estimate of the cost of the works on which the amount of the grant was based. The applicant will be notified of the outcome on receipt of the inspector's report.

79.

asked the Minister for the Environment when a reconstruction grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Galway.

There is no record in the Department of the receipt of an application for a reconstruction grant from the person named.
