asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when a telephone service will be provided for a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny.

In about a month's time. Provision of service has been delayed by unexpected difficulties encountered in the provision of the pole route involved.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs the reason for the delay in completing the examination of a telephone account problem for a person (details supplied) in Dublin and in the person being notified.

Examination of the telephone account problem in question was completed some time ago and the subscriber was informed of the outcome by letter on 28 April 1981.

The delay in completing the inquiries into this case arose because the subscriber complained about her service and accounts over a prolonged period and detailed investigations were necessary. Terms to settle the matter have been offered to the subscriber and her response is awaited.

Confirmation has been sought from the parties involved in the development of the estate that development work has advanced to a stage that will allow of telephone service being provided. If this confirmation is received service will be provided in about two months.

It is expected that service will be provided for the 200 applicants in this estate about the end of this year or early next year.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when the extension to the telephone exchange at Ballyboden, County Dublin will be completed; and when it will come into service.

It is expected that the new exchange at Ballyboden will be completed and brought into service in about three month's time.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when a mobile exchange will be provided at Summerville Avenue, Crumlin, Dublin 12; and when it will come into service.

It is expected that a mobile exchange comprising two units, each with a capacity of 1,000 lines, will be located on the Summerville site by the end of August 1981. The exchange should be in service by the end of the year.

With the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, I propose to take Question Nos. 178 and 179 together. It is expected that service will be provided for both applicants in the first half of next year.

There is no record of an application from the person named. An application has now been recorded and it is expected that service will be provided in the first half of next year when the necessary cabling work in the area is carried out.

It is expected that service will be provided early next year.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs the districts in Mayo still depending on manual telephones; and when it is proposed to have automatic telephones provided for these areas.

All districts other than Ballina, Castlebar, Charlestown, Claremorris, Crossmolina, Kilmaine, Kiltimagh, Knock, Newport and Shrule continue to be served by manual exchanges.

It is expected that Ballyhaunis and Westport exchanges will be converted to automatic working in 1982 and that conversion of most of the other exchanges, including all of the larger ones, will follow progressively in 1983. The remainder should be completed in 1984.
