asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if and when a free telephone service will be provided for an old age pensioner (details supplied) in County Dublin.

It is expected that service will be available in this area during the first half of next year. An application form to determine eligibility for free telephone rental was sent to this applicant last March but was not returned. A further form has now been sent.

Within the next two months or so. It was not, it is regretted, possible to provide service earlier because of unexpected difficulty in completing the necessary linework.

There is no record of an application for telephone service on behalf of the person named who is already a telephone subscriber, but if the question refers to the mother of the person concerned it is expected that service will be provided before the end of this year.
