asked the Minister for Justice the number of District Court barring summonses which were issued in 1980 for the hearing of barring proceedings (a) in and (b) outside the Dublin Metropolitan District Court area.

asked the Minister for Justice the number of affiliation summonses which were issued in 1980 for the hearing of proceedings (a) (i) in and (ii) outside the Dublin Metropolitan District Court area and (b) the High Court.
With the permission of the Ceann Comhairle I propose to take Questions Nos. 319, 320 and 322 together.
The position in relation to the District Court is that statistical records are compiled in respect of the legal year ended 31 July rather than in respect of the calendar year and accordingly the information sought by the Deputy is not readily available and could not be compiled without the expenditure of a disproportionate amount of staff time.
The number of summonses for maintenance orders or for variation of an existing maintenance order issued in the year ended 31 July 1980 in the Dublin Metropolitan District was 507 and the number issued outside the Dublin Metropolitan District was 1,614.
The number of summonses for barring orders issued in the year ended 31 July 1980 in the Dublin Metropolitan District was 633 and the number issued outside the Dublin Metropolitan District was 1,284.
The number of summonses for affiliation orders issued in the year ended 31 July 1980 in the Dublin Metropolitan District was 26 and the number issued outside the Dublin Metropolitan District was 75.
In the time available it has not been possible to obtain the relevant particulars in respect of the year ended 31 July 1981. I will, however, arrange to have the information supplied to the Deputy as soon as possible.
During the calendar year 1980 the number of High Court summonses issued in which a claim was made under the Illegitimate Children (Affiliation Orders) Act, 1930, as amended, was 8.
