34.

asked the Minister for Defence the number of journeys undertaken to date in the State's executive jet by (i) Ministers, Ministers of State and the former Parliamentary Secretaries and (ii) civil servants or other persons.

With the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, I propose to take Questions Nos. 33 and 34 together.

The number of air transport missions undertaken in the aircraft from February 1980 to 30 September 1981 was 128. The cost involved in this operation is estimated at £530,000. This figure is related to the number of hours flown by the aircraft — 431 — on these missions.

The destinations involved and the number of visits to each are as follows:—

Amsterdam (3), Athens (1), Belgrade (1), Birmingham (1), Bologna (2), Brussels (42), Cologne-Bonn (2), Copenhagen (3), Cork (5), Coventry (1), Eindhoven (2), Geneva (2), Hamburg (2), Hanover (1), London (9), Luxembourg (23), Maastrich (1), Madrid (1), Naples (1), Paris (10), Rome (3), Shannon (3), Stockholm (1), Strasbourg (3), Stuttgart (1), Venice (4).

One hundred and twenty-six missions involved Ministers or Ministers of State and two missions involved civil servants.
