Vol. 331 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Enniscorthy (Wexford) National Manpower Service Office.

18.

asked the Minister for Labour if he will set up a permanent manpower office in Enniscorthy, County Wexford.

The need for permanent and temporary offices of the National Manpower service throughout the country is reviewed at frequent intervals. As a result of a recent review it was decided to open a clinic to provide service one day a week at Enniscorthy. Possible premises are at present being considered. Should the level of activity in the area warrant full-time attendance the establishment of an office will be considered.

Is the Minister aware that for the last number of years many requests have gone into the Department for a full-time office in Enniscorthy as there is only one at the moment based in Wexford and the situation is that it is totally inadequate to deal with problems of this nature?

As I said, there will be a one day a week service given in an office in Enniscorthy. If this is inadequate we will extend it. I am not responsible for what happened before.

(Interruptions.)
