Vol. 331 No. 4

Written Answers. - County Cork Company's Redundancy Payments.

699.

asked the Minister for Labour the date on which Údarás na Gaeltachta notified him in relation to the payment of redundancy moneys to the employees of Gael Crann Teoranta, Renamirree, County Cork; if he will now arrange for the payment of such moneys, and the reason for the delay in making payments.

Gael Crann Teoranta notified my Department on 29 July 1981 that all employees of the company would be made redundant on 28 August 1981.

It is the responsibility of the employer under the Redundancy Payments Acts 1967 to 1979 to pay the employees their statutory entitlements. If the employer fails to pay the statutory redundancy lump sums the employees may apply to my Department for payment from the Redundancy Fund. However, no application has been received to date in my Department for payment of their redundancy statutory entitlements from any employee of the company.
