Diplomatic passports are issued to An Taoiseach, Ministers, Ministers of State, and Members of Dáil Éireann travelling abroad in a representative capacity or on the official business of An Dáil.
The number at present in possession of such passports is 84. The purpose of a diplomatic passport is to facilitate the bearer in official travel.
