Vol. 331 No. 12

Written Answers. - Local Authority Estimates.

346.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will take steps to ensure that local authorities review estimates in advance of the end of the calendar year in order that the local elected representatives can involve themselves to a greater extent in their preparation.

Local elected members have powers to review the finances of their local authorities at any time during the year and for that purpose to call for the preparation and submission to them of financial statements in such detail as may be specified by them in a resolution under section 8 of the City and County Management (Amendment) Act, 1955.
