Vol. 331 No. 12

Written Answers. - Dublin Sea Front Access.

398.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he is aware of the urgent need for ramp access to the sea front stretching from Merrion to Killiney in County Dublin; the action, if any, that is being taken in the context of the railway line and the introduction of new bridges; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Any decision on the provision of ramps affording access to the sea is a matter for the local authority, Dún Laoghaire Borough Corporation. I am informed that the electrification of the Howth-Bray railway line necessitates the raising of the level of a number of road bridges crossing the railway line and in some cases the work will involve complete reconstruction of a bridge. The works will be carried out by CIE in consultation with the relevant road authority, and CIE will meet all costs involved.
