It is planned to provide a telephone kiosk to serve Brookfield Estate, Tallaght. Because of the big number of kiosks included in the current programme, however, it may be some time before the kiosk at Brookfield Estate can be provided. In the meantime a kiosk will be provided later this year at Bawnlea Estate which is 700 metres approximately from the Brookfield Estate.

With the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, I propose to take Questions Nos. 237, 238 and 239 together.

In November 1981, my Department received in the order of 700 applications for capital grant assistance under the community, youth, recreational and employment programme. The applications submitted included requests for financial assistance towards the provision of a Scout Den at Shantalla; the development of an outdoor education centre at Letterfrack and the provision of a community centre at Mervue.

I am pleased to announce that a capital grant of £35,000 has been allocated to the 16th Galway Unit of the Catholic Boy Scouts of Ireland, towards the cost of erecting a scout den in the Shantalla area. Also a capital grant of £186,000 has been allocated to Galway Corporation towards the cost of providing a sports and community centre in Galway city. It will be a matter for the elected members of Galway Corporation to decide on whether the grant of £186,000 will be spent on the provision of facilities in Mervue or at an alternative location. Officers of my Department are arranging to discuss the proposed projects with the local organisers involved.

The applications submitted by County Galway Vocational Education Committee and the Mervue/Ballybane Community Complex Organisation in respect of the development of recreational facilities at Letterfrack and Mervue, respectively, were not nominated for assistance under the capital scheme.

As all funds placed at my Department's disposal for the purpose of the scheme were fully committed by the previous Government the question of making additional grants available cannot be considered at this stage.
