Vol. 334 No. 2

Written Answers. - Leitrim Estate.

486.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he is aware of the reported sale of the Dixon estate, Tawley, County Leitrim, of the very considerable land congestion in the immediate area and of the fact that more than 20 smallholders have applied to the Land Commission for parts of the estate and if, in view of these considerations, it is his intention to apply a section 40 notice of inspection to the estate.

The Land Commission have recently issued an inspection notice under section 40, Land Act, 1923, in respect of this property. Arrangements are now being made to have an inspection carried out with a view to determining the suitability of the lands for purposes of structural reform.
