Vol. 334 No. 2

Written Answers. - Dublin Employment Programme.

560.

asked the Minister for the Environment whether the Government intend to continue the Dublin inner city employment programme as run until some months ago by the National Manpower Service; if the necessary forms will be made available for this programme either directly from the Government here or through the EEC; and the reason for the delay in giving a decision on this matter.

The Dublin inner city employment programme, which is operated by the National Manpower Service, was initiated by the Inner City Group chaired by an officer of my Department and financed by a grant from the inner city fund. An application from the Department of Labour for further finance to continue the scheme was considered by the Inner City Group at their meeting on 30 April 1982 when it was decided to make available a grant of £50,000. There was no delay in dealing with the application.
