asked the Minister for Agriculture when an EEC cattle subsidy grant for 1978, 1979, 1980 and 1981 will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Galway.
The person named was deemed ineligible for payment of cattle headage grants in 1979, 1980 and 1981 because it appeared that his off-farm earnings exceeded the limit prescribed in each of those years.
Evidence came to hand about five weeks ago to the effect that the off-farm earnings which he had consistently shown as his own did, in fact, include his wife's off-farm earnings also. When these were deducted from the earnings returned the remaining income was found to be within the limit for each of the years concerned. Accordingly, he will be paid cattle headage grants for 1979, 1980 and 1981 shortly. He was paid his 1978 cattle headage grant on 17 January 1979.
