Vol. 334 No. 4

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

592.

asked the Minister for Agriculture when a sheep subsidy for 1981 will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Donegal.

The person named was paid the first instalment under the 1981-82 Scheme of Premiums for Good Quality Ewes on 30 September 1981. Payment of the second instalment will be made after the end of the current marketing year which has been extended to 17 May 1982. He did not apply for a 1981 headage grant under the Disadvantaged Areas Schemes.

593.

asked the Minister for Agriculture the reason for the delay in paying cattle and sheep grants to a person (details supplied) in County Kerry.

A person with the same surname and the herd number quoted applied for grants and was paid the first instalment of his 1981-82 EEC ewe premium on 30 September 1981, his 1981 cattle headage grant on 21 December 1981 and his 1981 sheep headage grant on 27 January 1982.

He presented over 200 ewes for inspection but was paid headage on 24.6 cattle units within the limit of 30 livestock units for cattle and sheep combined. As sheep payments per livestock unit are more favourable than cattle a balance in his favour is due to him and will be paid shortly.

The 1981 suckler cow premium was withheld pending investigation into whether the applicant complied with the terms of the scheme.
