Written Answers. - Social Welfare Benefits.

29.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare when unemployment payments will be issued to a person (details supplied) in County Wexford.

The person concerned claimed unemployment assistance on 19 April 1982 and his claim has been allowed at the weekly rate of £84.65 from 3 April 1982, the date from which he was found fit for work by a medical referee of my Department. Arrangements have been made to pay all arrears due to him this week. Weekly payments will continue to be made as they fall due.

33.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare when a widow's pension will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Galway.

The person concerned has been awarded a non-contributory widow's pension at the maximum rate appropriate to a widow with four qualified children, with effect from 16 October 1981.

A pension book containing orders from 2 April 1982 was issued on 26 April 1982 to the designated post office for collection by her and she was notified accordingly. The arrears of pension due from 16 October 1981 to 1 April 1982 have been paid direct to her by payable order.

The widow's entitlement to a widow's contributory pension was also investigated but it was found that her late husband did not have the necessary insurance contributions to qualify her for such pension. She was notified to this effect on 21 April 1982.
