asked the Minister for Finance the present position in relation to the drainage of the Dunkellin River in County Galway.

asked the Minister for Finance the present position in relation to the proposal to drain the Dunkellin River, County Galway.

I propose, with the permission of the Ceann Comhairle to take Questions Nos. 328 and 329 together.

The design of a scheme for the Dunkellin catchment under the Arterial Drainage Act, 1945, is progressing. Investigations are being carried out into the effects of the proposed scheme on the environment. Finalisation of the design will depend on these findings.
