Vol. 334 No. 7

Written Answers. - Dublin County Council Loan Application.

901.

asked the Minister for the Environment if his Department have any application from Dublin County Council for a loan for the purpose of financing the installation of fireplaces and chimneys in rented dwellings which lack these facilities; and, if so, if he will give the following information:— (a) the date on which the application was received from Dublin County Council; (b) when it will be approved and (c) the names and addresses of the occupiers of each house covered by the application.

I received applications in November 1981 from Dublin County Council for loans and grants to finance the provision of fireplaces in rented houses at various locations in the county. I have already approved grants for the works and I expect to be in a position shortly to approve a loan to meet the balance of the cost. As the works are being carried out by the council on their own property it would not be appropriate for me to name the tenants concerned.
