Vol. 334 No. 8

Written Answers. - Headage Schemes.

400.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if his Department's officers will accept one application form to cover beef/cow and suckler cow schemes since the herd is the subject of just one visit by the agricultural officer and as losses were suffered in the past year because of the requirement for two application forms.

Composite forms for completion by applicants in the disadvantaged areas who are eligible for more than one headage scheme have been or are being introduced this year where possible. In the case of sheep, application forms covering both the 1982 sheep headage and the EEC ewe premium schemes have already issued. Likewise, forms combining both the beef cow and EEC suckler applications for 1982 in the less severely handicapped areas and both the cattle headage and EEC suckler cow applications in the more severely handicapped areas have been drafted for issue to farmers in these areas. It is my hope that the use of these new forms will prevent a recurrence of any confusion which may have arisen last year.
