asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when a telephone service will be provided for a person (details supplied) in County Tipperary who has been diagnosed and certified by a specialist as suffering from a chronic medical disability; and if service for this person could be provide via the automatic telephone exchange at Thurles, County Tipperary.

Service will be provided as soon as possible. Regrettably, it is unlikely that it will be possible to do so for about a year. It is not possible to provide service to Thurles exchange as there are no spare circuits between Thurles and Littleton.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs the reason for the delay in repairing a telephone (details supplied) in Dublin.

I am advised that the line was found to be in working order when tested. The subscriber has confirmed that service is now satisfactory.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he is aware that the telephone of a person (details supplied) in Clondalkin, County Dublin has been faulty for months despite repeated representations and has not been properly fixed; and if he will make immediate arrangements to have it fixed.

A fault in the underground cable has been repaired and normal service has been restored.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs the reason for the delay in providing a telephone for a person (details supplied) in Clonsilla, County Dublin; and when the telephone will be supplied.

It has not been possible to provide service for the person named so far because of the volume of applications on hands in the Dublin area. Service will be provided as soon as possible, Regrettably, however, it is unlikely that the necessary cabling can be completed for about a year.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when a telephone service will be provided for a person (details supplied) in Drumcondra, Dublin; and if priority will be given to this applicant as the circumstances are urgent.

Service will be provided as soon as possible but it is unlikely that it will be possible to do so for about a year.

It has not been possible in the time available to research the priority aspect. If the Deputy will furnish details of the circumstances the question of according priority treatment when the necessary cabling has been completed will be considered.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when a telephone service will be provided for a person (details supplied) in Cabra, Dublin; and if priority will be given to this applicant as the circumstances are urgent.

Service will be provided on a priority basis as soon as possible. Regrettably it is unlikely that the necessary cabling can be completed for about one year.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when it is intended to provide a public telephone in Castle Park Estate, Monivea Road, Galway.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs the reason for the delay in providing a telephone for a person (details supplied) in County Meath.

It is expected that service will be provided about the end of this year. It is not possible to provide service earlier because of the large volume of engineering work requiring attention in the Meath area.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when the telephone account of a person (details supplied) in County Meath will be rectified.

There is no evidence so far that the accounts rendered are incorrect. However, as the subscriber continues to be dissatisfied, a comprehensive check of the line and associated equipment is being carried out. This examination should be completed within the next few weeks and my Department will communicate with the subscriber then.

Service will be provided as soon as possible. I regret, however, that it is unlikely that the necessary cabling can be completed for about a year.

The fault, which is in the underground cable, will be repaired within the next few days. Because of the number of such faults, which require attention by specially trained staff, I regret that there has been delay in repairing them.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when a telephone service will be provided for a person (details supplied) in County Meath; and if priority will be given in view of the urgency of the case.

It is expected that service will be provided within about a year. Priority will be given when the necessary cabling has been completed.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he will now issue quarterly accounts to a person (details supplied) in County Galway in respect of the period covered by a telephone bill for £882.67 which was sent to him recently; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

As indicated would be done in reply to a question on 4 May, the subscriber has been contacted. He has been given the details he required and has been told that if he requires any further information this will be supplied in so far as it is available.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he will site the new telephone kiosk to be erected in the Mount Carmel/Bosheen area at the old peoples homes in the Bosheen scheme at New Ross, County Wexford.

The site for the proposed telephone kiosk is at the entrance to Mount Carmel Estate less than 300 metres from the old peoples' homes in the Bosheen area; this is the nearest suitable position to the old people's homes that would meet the general needs of the area to be served.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when a telephone will be installed for a person (details supplied) in County Wexford who is an old age pensioner.

Terms have been quoted to the person named. Service will be provided as soon as possible after the necessary advance payment has been received. The applicant has not been approved by the Department of Social Welfare for inclusion in the Department's free telephone rental scheme.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs the reason for the delay in supplying a telephone to a person (details supplied) in Inchicore, Dublin 8; whether he will now give the case priority; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

It has not been possible to trace an application on behalf of the person named. If the Deputy can furnish additional information about the application, e.g. when and where the application was made, further efforts will be made to trace it.

There is nothing on file to indicate that priority is warranted. In any event service cannot be provided until necessary cabling has been carried out and it is unlikely that this can be completed for about a year.

Priority will be given when the necessary cabling has been completed.

Service will be re-provided for the persons named within a few weeks when a fault on the line has been rectified.

There is nothing on file to indicate that priority is warranted. In any event it is unlikely that necessary cabling can be completed until early next year.
