Vol. 335 No. 1

Written Answers. - Social Insurance Fund.

946.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he will state in respect of each of the last five years ended 5 April 1982, the total income of the Social Insurance Fund and the amount contributed by (1) all employers; (1a) private sector employers; and (1b) public sector employers; (2) all employers; (2a) private sector employees; (2b) public sector employees and (3) Government subvention.

As the accounting year for my Department is the calendar year, all figures in the reply are in respect of years ending 31 December.

It is not possible to furnish a breakdown of contribution income of the Social Insurance Fund on the basis sought by the Deputy as the returns of such income received in my Department do not differentiate between public sector and private sector employments. However information is available regarding the amounts of modified rate contributions paid in respect of permanent and pensionable public sector employments and the Defence Forces, and the amounts of contributions paid in respect of other employments mainly in the private sector but including some public sector employment. The following sets out the positions:—
