Vol. 335 No. 1

Written Answers. - East Wall (Dublin) School.

891.

asked the Minister for Education the latest information on the question of the disposal of St. Joseph's school, St. Mary's Road, East Wall, Dublin, which had been promised to the local community for use as a day centre for the aged and as a community centre; and if he will give a progress report on the matter of providing suitable premises for the education of the itinerant children who were to use part of the school.

The provision of suitable premises for the education of children of travelling families in the north city area of Dublin is being actively investigated. As a temporary measure some of the children in question are being facilitated in Booterstown.

Any application for the disposal of the former school premises known as St. Joseph's boys' national school, East Wall, cannot be resolved until it is established beyond doubt that the building will not be required for school purposes.
