796.

asked the Minister for the Environment when the contract documents for Kilkenny city and environs main drainage scheme will be sanctioned.

The approval of contract documents for this scheme must be considered in the context of the number of schemes in progress or getting to construction at the present time for which adequate finance must be provided.

Stage 1 of the Kilkenny main drainage involved the provision of a new treatment works and has been completed at a cost of about £2.3 million.

I regret that I am not at present in a position to say when I can sanction the contract documents for stage 2.

797.

asked the Minister for the Environment when the contract documents for the Rockshire/Ferrybank sewerage scheme, County Kilkenny, will be sanctioned.

The question of approving the contract documents for this scheme cannot be considered until the council submit a certificate of completion of planning and legal formalities. Submission of the relevant certificate is awaited in my Department.

798.
