Vol. 336 No. 5

Written Answers. - Livestock Losses.

515.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if farmers will be compensated for losses of livestock during the snow earlier this year.

After consultations with representatives of farming organisations I decided that in distributing the emergency aid granted by the EEC, prime consideration should be given to farmers who suffered serious livestock losses in the January blizzard. Payments in respect of losses of sheep and cattle are currently being made to farmers who applied to my Department and/or ACOT.
