Vol. 337 No. 1

Written Answers. - Clare Flooding Relief.

460.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will provide contingency funds to relieve flooding in the FeakleScarriff area of County Clare as the sum required would make a heavy machine with rock breaking facilities available for work at Scarriff Bridge, County Clare, over a period of one month in which the rock barrage could be removed and fertile arable land made readily available.

The works proposed will be examined by the Commissioners of Public Works when the Scarriff River catchment area is reached for consideration in the arterial drainage programme. Such works could not be carried out by the commissioners in advance of a comprehensive scheme for the entire catchment and they have no fund from which the sum sought could legally be made available.
