Vol. 337 No. 1

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

472.

asked the Minister for Agriculture when a headage grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Cork.

It is a condition of the cattle headage scheme that an applicant must occupy and farm 7.5 acres. The person named applied for cattle headage in 1981 and claimed he had rented 14 acres. He has been asked to supply documentary evidence in support of this claim. When he does so, he will be paid the cattle headage grant provided he satisfies the other terms and conditions of the scheme.

473.

asked the Minister for Agriculture when a sheep subsidy will be paid to a person (details supplied) in Lifford, County Donegal.

The person named was paid the first instalment of 1981 EEC ewe premium on 16 February 1982 and his 1981 sheep headage grant under the disadvantaged areas schemes on 23 June 1982. The second instalment of EEC ewe premium, if any, will be paid when the Commission notifies the amount to the Department.

474.

asked the Minister for Agriculture when a cattle headage payment will be made to a person (details supplied) in Malin Head, County Donegal.

The person named will be paid her 1981 cattle headage grant under the disadvantaged areas schemes and 1981 EEC suckler cow premium shortly.

475.

asked the Minister for Agriculture when the balance of headage payments which are due to a person (details supplied) in County Donegal will be made.

The maximum number of livestock units on which an applicant could be paid under the 1981 cattle and sheep headage schemes in the disadvantaged areas was 30.

The person named was paid on 17.8 cattle livestock units on 31 December 1981 and 12.2 approximately sheep livestock units on 27 January 1982. As he had 23.25 sheep livestock units, however, and as it would have been more favourable for him to have been paid on those first, an adjustment was made on this basis and a supplementary payment issued to him on 18 June 1982. The person named will be paid his 1981 EEC suckler cow premium shortly.

476.

asked the Minister for Agriculture the reason for the delay in paying a grant under the farm modernisation scheme to a person (details supplied) in Dunmanway, County Cork; and whether payment will now be made.

Final inspection in this case was awaiting notification from applicant that outstanding items of work had been completed. The work will now be inspected and if in order the grant will be paid without delay.
