Vol. 337 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - List of Properties.

10.

asked the Minister for Fisheries and Forestry if he will list the properties (i) owned or leased by his Department and (ii) occupied by his Department but owned by the Office of Public Works in Dublin County Borough at present; the properties which are considered to be derelict; and the action he proposes to take to bring them into use.

The Department own the Fisheries Research Centre at Abbotstown, Castleknock. This is a new building and it is being fully used by the Department.

There are two parts to the question. In the first part the Minister was asked to list the buildings owned by the Department. The second part asked the Minister to list the buildings occupied by the Department but owned by the Office of Public Works. Will the Minister reply to the second part of the question?

The information I have is that the Department own the Fisheries Research Centre at Abbotstown, Castleknock. That is a new building and it is being fully used by the Department.

I do not wish to be obstructive but the question asks the Minister to list the properties owned or leased by his Department and the properties occupied by the Department but owned by the Office of Public Works. I am not sure that the Minister has taken that into account in answering the question.

That is not in my brief and it is not the question.

It is in the second part of the question.

I presume there is no building.

The only building covered by the question is the research centre at Abbotstown. Where is the Department located?

In Merrion Street.

Is that owned by the Department or owned by the Office of Public Works and occupied by the Department?

It is owned by the Department of Lands.

Is there any other building owned by the Office of Public Works and occupied by the Department? The question asks for a simple list.

In Lesson Lane.

That is one covered by the question.

The Department of Fisheries and Forestry will be moving into a building in Lesson Lane as soon as it is completed.

The Minister might reconsider the answer to that question because I do not think the list he has given is complete.
