I propose to take Questions Nos. 405 and 406 together.
In the time available it has been possible only to extract data relating to total imports of iron and steel and these are given in the attached table. A considerable volume of detailed information relating to individual commodities is available in the Central Statistics Office. If the Deputy wishes to obtain data on individual commodities I will be glad to make the necessary arrangements.
Import documentation requires that the country of origin be specified for purposes of the official external trade statistics. This should in normal circumstances correspond with the country of manufacture of the goods imported.
The latest month for which data are available is April 1982.
