Vol. 337 No. 6

Written Answers. - Social Welfare Benefits.

532.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare the reason an old age pension has not yet been paid to a person (details supplied) in Dunmore, County Galway.

It was decided by an appeals officer that the person concerned was entitled to a non-contributory old age pension at the rate of £6.45 a week from 2 April 1982. His means, consisting of a holding and capital assessed at £32.95 weekly, entitle him to a pension at this rate.

It was also determined by the appeals officer that he was not entitled to any pension from 17 February 1982 to 1 April 1982 as his means exceeded the statutory limit applicable during that period.

The appropriate pension order book payable from 2 April 1982 was issued on 10 June 1982 and it has been confirmed that the pensioner is cashing it at the designated post office.

533.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he will make a statement on the old age pension to which a person (details supplied) in Helvick, County Waterford, is entitled; if he will take steps to grant him the maximum amount of the non-contributory old age pension; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

It has been decided by the local pension committee that the person concerned is entitled to a non-contributory old age pension at the maximum rate including an allowance for his wife with effect from 1 February 1982. His pension has been adjusted to the appropriate rate of £51.75 a week by the issue to the pensioner of a supplementary pension order book at the rate of £15.00 a week payable from 7 May 1982. A payable order covering the arrears due from 2 February 1982 to 30 April 1982 is in course of issue.
