Vol. 337 No. 9

Written Answers. - Clontarf (Dublin) Garda Mobile Strength.

742.

asked the Minister for Justice the number of squad cars and motor cycles available to the Garda at Clontarf Garda Station, Dublin (a) in the ordinary course of events; and (b) on the night of Friday, 25 June 1982.

The Garda Síochána are provided with sufficient official transport to cater for their overall needs and the number of cars to be allocated to individual stations from time to time is a matter for decision by the Garda authorities.

I am informed by the Garda authorities that the official transport allocated to Clontarf station at present comprises one patrol car, one Detective Unit car and one motor cycle.

I understand that neither the patrol car nor the motor cycle allocated to Clontarf station was operational on the night of 25-26 June 1982 but alternative patrolling arrangements were made by the local Garda officers for the coverage of the Clontarf area by the patrol car and motor cycle based at the District Headquarters at Raheny and by a special crime prevention patrol.
