Vol. 337 No. 10

Written Answers. - Farm Grants.

416.

asked the Minister for Agriculture when qualification for a headage grant under the severely handicapped and handicapped area schemes included the examinations of the income of a spouse; and whether this applied in 1980 and 1981 respectively.

This year (1982) is the first year in which the income of a spouse is being taken into consideration in calculating off-farm income for the purpose of determining eligibility for a headage grant under the disadvantaged areas schemes.

417.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if a decision regarding work carried out under the farm modernisation scheme by a person (details supplied) in County Galway will be reconsidered as the applicant was unaware that a grant would be approved before work commenced.

The work in this case was carried out without the prior written approval of the Farm Development Service and is, therefore, ineligible for grant-aid under the farm modernisation scheme.
