Vol. 337 No. 11

Written Answers. - County Longford National Schools.

262.

asked the Minister for Education if he will sanction a grant towards the cost of hiring premises which were required when Killasonna national school (14300), County Longford, was under repair.

An application was received recently in my Department from the chairman of the board of management for a grant for the use of hired premises for school purposes while improvements were being carried out in the Killasonna school. The application did not give sufficient details regarding the hire and the chairman has been asked to furnish further details so that the application may be processed. A grant of up to 50 per cent of what is considered to be a reasonable rent may be allowed in cases where my Department is satisfied that the closure of a school was necessary.

263.

asked the Minister for Education if he will state in relation to Killeen national school, County Longford, when the grant for an oil burner will be paid.

The Department awaits a report and recommendation from the Commissioners of Public Works concerning the installation of a new burner at Killeen national school, County Longford. The question of a grant towards the cost will be considered by my Department when the report is received.
