On 17 January 1983 Mrs. Margaret Shiel took up duty as my Personal Secretary at a salary of £168.79 per week. Mrs. Shiel, who is on secondment from the Houses of the Oireachtas, will be appointed on a full-time temporary non-established basis under an excluding order made by the Civil Service Commission under the Civil Service Commission Act, 1956. Her period of employment will be co-terminus with my period of office.
