Vol. 339 No. 5

Written Answers. - County Dublin Post Primary School.

299.

asked the Minister for Education if she will indicate the details of the survey carried out concerning the Knocklyon post-primary school, Dublin, which indicated that there would not be sufficient numbers to warrant the setting up of post-primary facilities for 1983/1984 at Scholarstown.

300.

asked the Minister for Education if she will confirm that the school at Scholarstown Road, County Dublin, will be ready in 1984/1985 at the latest.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 299 and 300 together.

According to my Department's records some 49 pupils will be leaving primary school in Knocklyon in 1983. My Department are satisfied that accommodation will be available for these pupils in existing post-primary schools in the locality. Accordingly the setting up of a new post-primary school in the area for the 1983-1984 school-year is not necessary.

As the planning of the project is at an early stage I am not in a position at this stage to state when the new building will be completed.
