Vol. 339 No. 8

Written Answers. - Bantry (Cork) Industrial Jobs.

242.

asked the Minister for Industry and Energy his plans for the provision of industrial jobs in Bantry, County Cork.

I am informed by the Industrial Development Authority that a new project, Lamella Industries Limited, has recently been located in their 24,000 sq. ft. advance factory in Bantry. This company will produce high output central heating radiators for export to the UK and continental European markets. The company have already begun to recruit staff and it is expected that employment will be provided for 100 people by the end of this year, with the prospects for a further increase in employment as the project develops. The company will also begin construction of a 12,000 sq. ft. extension to the factory at Bantry in the near future.

The IDA are continuing to promote their 7.6 acres of land in Bantry, the 30,000 sq. ft. Rowa factory and the 4×3,000 sq. ft. cluster units for suitable industrial projects. Two potential new projects for the four cluster units, are in the final stages of negotiation.
