Vol. 339 No. 8

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

271.

asked the Minister for Agriculture when headage payments will be made to a person (details supplied) in County Galway.

As the wife of the person named earned more than £5,415 from an off-farm occupation in the income tax year ended 5 April 1982, he is not eligible for cattle headage payments under the 1982 disadvantaged area schemes.

He is eligible, however, for 1982 EEC suckler cow premium and will be paid in April 1983 when the six months period for retention of cows specified in that scheme expires for all applicants.

272.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will arrange for the immediate payment of a cattle headage grant to a person (details supplied) in County Galway.

There is no record of receipt of an application form under the 1982 cattle headage scheme in the disadvantaged areas or under the EEC suckler cow premium scheme 1982 from the person named. It would appear from a letter received from him on 22 November 1982 in which he quoted the ear tag numbers of his cattle, that he had failed to apply in time under either of these schemes.

273.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will arrange to have a farm modernisation scheme grant paid to a person (details supplied) in County Cork.

The grant will be paid shortly.

274.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will arrange to have a western drainage scheme grant paid to a person (details supplied) in County Cork.

The grant will be paid shortly.

275.

asked the Minister for Agriculture the reason a hardship grant as a result of disease eradication has not yet been paid to a person (details supplied) in County Cork.

Failure to pay the grant in this instance arose from a misinterpretation at district veterinary office level of the rather complex conditions of the hardship fund scheme.

Arrangements have now been made for payment of the grant to the person named without delay.
