Vol. 339 No. 8

Written Answers. - Garda Strength.

276.

asked the Minister for Justice the number of gardaí presently in Cabinteely Garda Station, County Dublin; and if he will consider increasing this number, having regard to the increase in population and increase in crime in this area.

Limerick East): The detailed deployment of Garda manpower is a matter to be decided primarily by the Garda authorities and the strength assigned to the various stations is reviewed from time to time to take account of changing needs and circumstances.

I am informed by the Garda authorities that the current strength at Cabinteely station is 38, which represents a net increase of three over the strength assigned there on 1 September 1982. The question of further increases in strength at the centre will be considered according as the additional manpower now in training becomes available for assignment.
