Vol. 339 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Louth Customs Station.

18.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state in regard to the resiting of the Newry Road, Dundalk customs station at Carrickarnon, County Louth (1) if the site investigations have been completed; (2) the time scale for completion of the new customs complex in view of the new inner relief road to bypass Dundalk being in progress; and (3) if any moneys have been provided in the Estimates.

The information requested is as follows: (1) Site investigation work has not commenced. (2) The project has not yet reached the stage where it would be possible to give a time scale for completion of the new complex. (3) It is not envisaged that any expenditure will arise on construction work during the current year but there are funds available to allow planning to proceed.

When is it proposed to start site investigations?

Discussions on the brief and the formulation of preliminary proposals are at present under way between the Commissioners of Public Works and the Revenue Commissioners.
