Vol. 339 No. 11

Written Answers. - House Grants.

192.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will arrange to pay a house improvement grant to a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny as her house was inspected some time ago.

A grant in respect of major necessary works to the basic fabric of the house has been approved in this case.

Grants in respect of the building of a bedroom and a bathroom could not be allowed because, contrary to a qualifying condition of the scheme, the works had commenced before an inspection of the house was carried out. As there was an existing chimney in the house, a grant could not be allowed for the provision of a chimney. The applicant has been so informed.

193.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will arrange to have an early inspection carried out for the approval of a new house grant for a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny.

The file in this case has been referred to my Department's inspector for investigation with a view to approval of a grant if in order.

194.

asked the Minister for the Environment when a house improvement grant under the old scheme will be approved for persons (details supplied) in County Wexford.

A house improvement grant of £600 for the provision of a kitchen and bathroom was paid in this case in 1980. A further inspection is now being arranged with a view to clarifying whether the applicant carried out other works which could have qualified for grant assistance.
