Vol. 340 No. 4

Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers. - School Transport.

28.

asked the Minister for Education if free transport will be available for children attending primary schools in rural areas where an amalgamation has taken place or where a new central school has been built.

No change is proposed in the existing school transport arrangements in the circumstances referred to in the question.

Can the Minister of State give me a guarantee that there will be no change as regards the free transport scheme in rural areas where amalgamation takes place or where a new central school is built? Can he give me the guarantee given parents when these measures were taken?

I have already stated that no change is proposed in the existing school transport arrangements in the circumstances referred to in the question.

I take it that is a guarantee?

That is a reply to the Deputy's question.
