Vol. 340 No. 4

Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers. - County Donegal School.

30.

asked the Minister for Education the present position in relation to the proposed new national school at Tooban, Burnfoot, County Donegal.

Agreement has been reached with the school authorities concerning the local contribution towards the cost of the proposed new national school at Tooban, County Donegal. A grant will be sanctioned at an early date.

Can the Minister tell me if a contribution has been agreed between the school manager and the Department?

Could the Deputy repeat his question, please?

Has a figure been agreed between the Department and the school manager?

For the benefit of the Deputy I will read the reply again:

Agreement has been reached with the school authorities concerning the local contribution towards the cost of the proposed new national school at Tooban, County Donegal. A grant will be sanctioned at an early date.

I did not catch the first part of the reply, that is why I asked the supplementary. Would the Minister ensure that the grant is sanctioned as soon as possible because there is urgent need for the provision of a school which has been delayed, not through any fault on the part of the Department, but because there was a problem in relation to the site which occasioned a delay for a number of years? I would ask the Minister to ensure that there would be no further delay.

I have said that a grant will be sanctioned at an early date. The Deputy has asked me for assurance that the grant will be provided as soon as possible. In that respect I think my reply is even more favourable.
